Shakopee Campus Update

    Oct 1, 2021 | by Aaron Davitch

In an unusual year in our world, the Lord was pleased to pour out an unusual grace upon us at our campus as we grew UP, IN, and OUT.

Each week, a group of staff and members went out into the community for outreach. We prayed with over 1,000 people and witnessed 50 people say Yes to Jesus on the streets of Shakopee and Chaska!

We built relationships with community members and leaders through HEART, a podcast with the Shakopee Chamber of Commerce, a cookout for Shakopee bus drivers, and help with Shakopee’s annual Rhythm on the Rails, in addition to our work building up kids, students, and adults through our campus ministries.

All of this culminated with a huge win through our second annual Picnic with Police event. The goal we had for this event from the beginning was that this would represent the diversity of our community and would help strengthen our relationships with each other and with the police.

I am pleased to say that the ethnic and socio-economic diversity of our city was well represented! We worked with cultural leaders in the city to help plan and prepare the event, and many of Shakopee’s city leaders were in attendance.

The event inspired the Shakopee Chief of Police to write a block grant that will enable smaller communities in Minnesota to have resources to do similar events where police can proactively build relationships with their communities and help prevent crime.
