Who is Jesus?

We must know Him to be more like Him.

Jesus was a man. A humble man. Full of kindness and grace. He captivated crowds with His authoritative teaching and healed the tormented and diseased with a touch of His hand.

With His boundless and irresistible love, He drew near those who had been cast outside of society and religion. But He wasn’t only a man. He was God. A crazy claim. So crazy, that religious people killed Him for claiming it by hanging Him on a cross. But He didn’t stay dead. Three days after He was buried, witnesses found the grave empty. He ate again with His friends. Doubters touched His nail scarred hands. And those witnesses proclaimed to others, who proclaimed to others, who proclaim today that Jesus is alive.

Jesus changes everything. Through His life and teaching, we see the heart and character of God. Through His death on the cross, our relationship with God is restored. Through His resurrection, we have hope beyond every grave. Through His empowering Spirit, we are invited to participate in his ongoing work of redeeming the world. Jesus told people who believed in Him to “follow him” by doing what He did, and loving like He loved. So the Church is simply a gathering of people asking Jesus to make us more and more like Him. This is why Hosanna Church’s vision is to multiply the hope and heartbeat of Jesus through irresistible love, generosity and unity.

Jesus is IRRESISTIBLE LOVE.

He lived a perfect life. He died a perfect death... for you. Why? Because He loves you. Love is at the foundation of who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him. Jesus’ love is genuine and unconditional (1 John 4:19, Luke 10:27). It cannot be earned or achieved. It is the embodiment of extraordinary grace and favor. Those who put their faith in Jesus are invited to extend that kind of love to the world around them. Love is the hope and heartbeat of Jesus.

Jesus is GENEROSITY.

Jesus is the embodiment of life-changing generosity. God gave His son and Jesus willingly gave up His life for us (John 10:18). His radical generosity means that we are given a clean slate. Sin and death no longer have any power over those who call Jesus their savior (John 8:36). We’re transformed. We’re a new creation in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). In turn, Jesus followers have the opportunity to model that kind of generosity; giving joyfully in all ways (time, money, resources, etc.).

Jesus is UNITY.

Jesus was one with the Father and He longs for us to be one as He and the Father were one (John 17:21). What’s more, Jesus came for ALL people. Jesus came to save and unify everyone, regardless of race, gender, background, family history, relationship-status, or past mistakes. He came for EVERYONE. Jesus’ life is a call to unity; both with Him and as the Body of Christ (the Church).

Congratulations on saying Yes to Jesus!

We would love to help you take the next steps in your faith journey.
